BQ24171: About Precharge and Termination current tolerance

Part Number: BQ24171

Hi,

The following contents are described in the data sheet.
”The precharge and termination current is internally as one tenth of the charge current.”

Customers want to know the Precharge and Termination current tolerance.
Charge current accuracy is specified, but the precharge current accuracy is not stated.
Is it possible to calculate by reducing the charging current to 1/10 in consideration of accuracy?
Please tell me the Precharge and Termination current accuracy.

Best regards,
Yusuke

  • Tsukui-san,

The same charge current regulation accuracy characteristics apply to fast charge, precharge, and termination current.

The regulation accuracy for each of these characteristics is determined by V_SRP-SRN.

I hope this resolves your issue,

  • Hi Ricardo-san,

Thank you for your kind support.
Please let me ask a question about one more thing.

    For example,
    Fast charge is "VSRP-SRN = 40mV range".
At that time, the precharge is "VSRP-SRN = 5mV range".

In this case, Fast charge accuracy is 4% and the precharge accuracy is 25%.
    Is this understanding correct?
Or Is the precharge accuracy 4% based on the fast charge accuracy?

And Customer created an approximate curve based on the following accuracy information.
As a background, the customer wants to estimate the accuracy when "VSRP-SRN = 30mV".
Is the idea of the graph below correct?

    Best regards,
    Yusuke

  • Yusuke-san,

    "Fast charge is "VSRP-SRN = 40mV range".
At that time, the precharge is "VSRP-SRN = 5mV range".

In this case, Fast charge accuracy is 4% and the precharge accuracy is 25%."

    This understanding is correct.

As for the curve the customer has created, it does provide a rough estimate and should be sufficient for their purposes. Please understand that this is not a warranty of performance.

I hope this resolves your issue,

    Ricardo
