BQ40Z80: bq40z80 EMSHUT exit

Hello,

I'm entering Emergency Shutdown by setting SHUTDN low (0V).

Then i want to exit by:

Voltage at Pack pin > Charger Present Threshold for two sample periods (that is, ~500 ms). This exit condition requires the [EMSHUT_EXIT_VPACK] bit to be set.

I had also Power->Power Off->Timeout parameter sert to 1 (could',t it be less than 1min?)

And nothing happen - I can't exit EMSHUT mode applying VBAT to PACK even more than 5 seconds.

Am I missing something?

Maybe I can share my *.gg file?

Now I see it's additional feature, and I set it to "0" so that timeout is infinite.

But still exit from EMSHUT does not work

Hi Adam,

Maybe sharing the gg file is best. A few things to check:

Verify your settings for [NR] and [EM_SHUT_EN] are set correctly.
Verify your setting for [EMSHUT_EXIT_VPACK].
Verify your setting for Charger Present Threshold

- Already set to "1"
Verify your setting for [EMSHUT_EXIT_VPACK].
- Already set to "1"

- set to 4V

Hi Adam,

I did receive your .gg file.

The Power Config register looks wrong to me. It is set to 0x0400, I think it should be set to 0x0004 to enable EMSHUT_EXIT_VPACK.

Pin Configuration and DA Configuration look okay.

I assume you are releasing the SHUTDN pin after the device has entered Shutdown? I’m not sure what would happen if this pin were held low.

Not shure why .gg file shows 0x0400 - I had set it to 0x0004 (however I check the file send to you and it shows as you said 0x0400), probably some mistake while exporting file. I will send once again if you could please check it.

Yes, I'm realeasing SHUTDN pin after releasing.

The updated file looks correct to me. I assume you are still seeing the issue after changing this register?

Yes, unfortunatelly still seeing it.

Would it be problem if you try this config on EVM on your site?

It's confiigured for 5S battery.
