BQ24600: To toggle the IC minimum required CE pulse width (active low)

Hi,

I am using 1S6P combination in Li-ion Battery pack.

I have build charger using BQ24600. I set a charge current to 3A. When battery pack is at 2.7V , and i am trying to recharge the battery. Charger charging battery at pre-charge current (300 mA). it continues upto 30 minutes. in my case due to these 1S6P combination, Battery pack doesn't reach at 3.3v within 30 minutes and timer expires and Charging is stopped. To reset these condition i need to either toggle CE pin or POR. Is there any other way to apart from above to reset 30 minute timer? What is the minimum low pulse is required to toggle CE pin?

While fast charging at room temperature, the battery pack temperature rises above 45 degree and charging stopped. Is there any other way so that temperature doesn't rise beyond 45 degree.?

Hi Virendra,

For resetting precharge timer, those are the only 2 valid ways of starting a new timer. From Figure 3 of the datasheet, disabling charge is pretty immediate, so as long as you have atleast 5us CE toggle pulse then it will be fine. Regardless of pulse width, converter will be enabled 1.5s after CE pin enables charge

Thanks for your quick response.

Fast charge timer start at CC cycle start and terminate at CV cycle start. is it correct?

Hi Virendra,

Fast charge timer will end at termination, or when battery voltage which is above VRECHG, falls below VRECHG. Section 7.3.15 Timer Fault Recovery of the datasheet..
