TPS62088: Use as Power/GND (source/sink) switch?

HI,

Is it possible to use the TPS62088 as a Source or Sink switch? So Either Source (Vout = Vin) or Sink current (Vout = GND). I see in the datasheet that 100% duty cycle operation is supported (Vout =Vin) which I think covers the Source part, Is 0% duty cycle supported to allow this component to operate as a current sink?

If it's possible would there be any restrictions beyond what is in the datasheet? I expect Max current to be ~ 2Amps .

Hi Roy,

What do you mean by current sink? The high-side FET is permanently turnoff at the entire time while the low-side FET is at 100% duty cycle, right? If this is the case, then TPS62088 cannot support this application because there is no way for device to operate with 100% duty on the low-side FET besides the device is design to operate as a "source".

Hi Roy,

The minimum/max duty cycle of the low-side FET is dependent on Vin, Vout, and mode of operation (PFM or PWM). What is not clear to me is how do you intend to use TPS62088 as a sink current? Do you intend to discharge the output voltage at specific conditions? It will be helpful if you provide a clearer description of how you intend to use the device.
