BQ24780S: spike issue

Hi Sir,

customer have one more issue found,

the charging voltage had spike voltage(over battery pack’s spec when battery full charged(confirm from SMBUS, current is 0).

This is not happened every time, but we did have some batteries damaged by over voltage.
Could let us learn from you this issue what is root cause and resolution?

Please kindly find the attachments, and you could see the charging current(CH4) was stopped before voltage(CH1) raised.

    Hi, Tommy,

    It looks like the voltage spike is associated with the parasitic inductance. When the battery is in charging and the charge current is abruptly reduced to zero , the VBAT spike is shown. Suggest improving the layout to reduce parasitic inductance.
