Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS650864, TPS51285B, , TPS650860EVM-116, TPS53125
Dear Sirs
I'm currently in the power management design stage for the Xilinx Zynq UltraScale MPsoc. I plane to use the TPS650864 to power the Xilinx power rails. Given that the input voltage will be between +12vdc and +24vdc and the reference designs I've seen use a primary voltage supply, I'm considering using either the TPS51285B or the TPS43351-Q1 for the +5.0vdc and +3.3vdc primary power supplies. I've have some questions to be answered to help in my choice of which to use. First, the Xilinx Zynq UltraScale will be used to create a mother board that will be able to control several subordinate modules of varying complexity and load. These modules haven't been defined yet. However, I believe the maximum load for the +5.0vdc and +3.3vdc primary power supplies will be 15A and 10A respectively. Do you have an opinion which part is better suited for what I want to do? I have seen switch designs that use paralleled MOFETs to reduce switching losses. Can the TPS51285B and TPS43351-Q1 switch paralleled MOFETs? On the TPS51285B part, it has the option of having a charge pump to drive a switch. I'm not sure what this means. Please explain or give an example. Thank you for your time.
