Hello,

My customer is using the LM2663 as a voltage inverter below. They have a few questions about C1 capacitor.

1. What is expected when C1 is open ?

2. What is expected when C1 is short ?

3. What is expected when C1 Cap. Isulation Resistance(IR) decreases?

    Hello JH,

    1. No output voltage.

    2. During charge phase, VIN is shorted to GND, so it is possible that either VIN drops or the internal transistors overheat, but it is as well possible that there is just no output voltage.

    3. If C1 gets damaged, see 1 or 2, if only the resistance changes, no issue. Reduced resistance means more energy to deliver, increased resistance means less energy.
