BQ27426: Manual learning cycle

Genius 12760 points
Part Number: BQ27426
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO, GPCCHEM

I am having issues with the learn cycle for the BQ27426 with LG INR18650 MJ1 Li-Ion.
I have finished a learn cycle using the manual learn cycle in BqStudio, but it won’t perform a Ra table update.  The Qmax update happens during relax after the charge, but the RUP_DIS flag sets after the discharging starts and the Ra table is not updated.
Is there a document about the learning cycle for this specific device?  The Achieving the Successful Learning Cycle (slua903) document is for pack-side gauges. It has inconsistent values compared with other documents for this chip.
I have been able to run the CHEM ID tool (GPCCHEM) and it keeps complain about an “anomaly in the data”.  I have double checked the format, units and test schedule.  I need to know what that anomaly is if I am going to correct it.
The CHEM ID that is recommended is not available in the my current fuel gauge chip.  Even thou the data sheet states that it works with li-ion battery that charge to 4.2v.
This is really late in the project, but if we had to change the fuel gauge what model would work with this Battery?

Bernd

  • Hello Bernd,

The BQ27426 doesn't need to run a full learning cycle, and you don't need to submit files to the GPCCHEM tool because it has a pre-programmed chemistry ID.

You can follow the quickstart guide for this gauge: www.ti.com/.../sluubn3.pdf

After updating the suggested parameters (section 4 in the quickstart guide) the gauge should be ready to go.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller
