UCD90320: How do I configure a GPI fault enable with Fault Shutdown Slaves?

Part Number: UCD90320
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCD90160A,

On a UCD90160A, I understand how to configure a GPI so that it's de-assertion will result in the GPI being treated as a fault, and also to have it subsequently shutdown rails.  However, this same configuration is not clear to me on the UCD90320, as the setup in the GUI has changed.

I have configured the GPI for GPI fault enable, but

1) Do I need to select "Configured as Fault Pin" as well when configuring the GPI?

2) I don't see a place to select the fault shutdown slaves for the GPI fault.  Where is this done?  Is it the Rail Configuration tab... Fault Responses page?

  • Hello

    UCD90320 is different with UCD90160A.

    1. there is no need to configure fault pin

    2. the GPI fault response is under each rail's fault response where you set the UV/OV fault.

  • Please see my attachment....

Is this the area you are referring to?

I don't see a way to configure fault shutdown slaves for a GPI input configured as a fault input... even if I click "Edit" for that GPI.

Can you elaborate on how to configure this?

  • Hi

There is no dedicated shutdown slaves for GPI, but the same shutdown slaves of OV/UV apply on GPI as well.

For example, Rail 2/3/4 are shutdown slave of rail#1. if rail#1 is set to shutdown for its GPI fault response, rail2/3/4 will be off as well along with rail#1.
