Hi Team,
My customer would like to know any side effect and concern if add a 470nF on CL pin (RCL is 4.87Kohm)?
Best regards,
Albert Lee.

Hello Albert,
We would not recommend adding a capacitor on the CL line. The CL line isn't an EMC concern, and adding a capacitor would serve no benefits that I'm aware of, but has the potential to affect performance.

Hi Kalin Burnside,
Thanks. Would you share what kind of potential would be and any recommended verification could be? My customer has verified the over current and burn in with the cap. From customer's information, they want to add the cap due it can enhance the EMC/Lightning surge level in their system base on the test result..
Best regards,
Albert Lee.
Hello Albert,
The capacitor on the CL pin will not break the device, but it will negatively impact the current limit. Adding that capacitor will not affect the EMC performance as no switching components are interfacing with the CL pin. Our recommendation would be to remove the capacitor as it is not a recommended component in the datasheet and it would serve no functional purpose.
