BQ34Z100: IMPEDANCE TRACK OR RESISTANCE TRACK

Part Number: BQ34Z100

Dear All,

I am looking for a solid reason for how can I utilize bq34z100 in my 14s BMS. As I can read from datasheet and related videos, I understand that that chip simly looks at V_ocv -V_terminal at load and by dividing that number to average current, can find a meaningful number for internal resistance.

What I want to learn is I believe that impedance is a little bit different from resistance , and what you find in that algorithm is resistance. Do you find only resistance or do you have special circuitry that caluclates cell internal impedance?

Another topic is do you calcualte SOH from new founded internal resistance and new capacity?

Thanks.

  • Hello Yusuf,

Please read the impedance track theory/app note on ti.com. This is all we can share with you on the forum.

SOH computation is described in the TRM. That is all we are able to share on the forum.

It's better to order an EVM first to evaluate if it will work for your system.

  • I do not understand why TI responsibles acting like that. We read datasheet, we read application guides and we ask points that we do not understand. Yes it can be written on datasheet, or application guide. But we may not understand it.

I really run into that problem with only two companies: Matlab and TI.

    It is bizarre.

Thanks. I have read datasheet several times. Reading once more is a great wise idea. You are a genius.
