BQ27441-G1: compatibility with INR18650-MJ1

Hi,

After been going through a number of datasheets, documents, reference designs etc. I am still confused on the compatibility of the BQ27441-G1 with my battery (LG INR18650-MJ1).

In the datasheet it is mentioned this gauge only is compatible with 0128 chem ID type cells. Is that correct or am I reading this wrongly?

the chem ID of the mentioned battery seems to be 2059.

In bqStudio I can configure the BQ27441-G1 to my cell (i.e. I can enter all the requested data) but there is no "chemistry" tab for that gauge.

In our current design the BQ27441-G1 offers what we need but the datasheets keep confusing me on compatibility.

I'm sorry if I missed some basic obvious answers but I am quite new to this gas gauge material

Hello Sebastian,

The bq274xx gauges are ROM gauges. They only have a fixed chemistry profile.

For chemistry compatibility, please use GPCCHEM and a flash gauge such as the bq27z561-R1.

I'm sprry, but I am still confused.

So, if I follow the GPCCHEM and the chemistry profile is exactly 128, then only my battery is compatible?

Hello Sebastian,

You will want to use GPCCHEM report as the best determination. Only then the report will tell you the compatible chemistry.

Try to look around the forum on GPCCHEM, you will find examples.
