LMG3410R070: Latched overcurrent behavior when the Id is decreasing

Part Number: LMG3410R070

Hi all,

I would like to know the OCP behavior of LMG3410. In Fig18 of the datasheet shows the behavior when the IN is high for a while. In the situation like below (Id>Itrip and IN=L, IN switches faster than tBlank+tCurr), the /FAULT due to OCP is occurred? Can you also tell me the condition of tBlank timer starts and end?

Thanks,
RYO

  • Hello Ryo,

Thanks for contacting us. The OC is tripped in this case because the current is higher than OC threshold after the blanking time. t_blank will start when the IN goes high, and goes low after the t_blank, which is 55ns for LMG3410R070 according to datasheet.

Would you give a link of where you get the plot? I could not find the plot you are showing in the datasheet.

    Regards,

  • Hi Yichi,

Thank you for your reply. Can you clarify that IN pin must be held H for over 50ns in order to enable OCP? For example, if IN pin is H for 10ns (no more than 50ns in the past) and the output is over 80A, does the OCP work?

    Regards,
    RYO

  • Hello Ryo,

After the blanking time (start when IN goes high), if current is over the OCP limit and the IN pin is high, the OCP should be triggered. If IN pin is only high for 10ns, then it won't trigger OCP because it still inside the blanking time.

    Regards,
