Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24160
For my application I’m looking at using the BQ24160 charger and the BQ27530 fuel gauge. The BQ27530 is only available in a DSBGA package, which may be okay, but I’d like to have a backup plan if we decide it’s not worth using a more expensive PCB technology with micro-vias and very small track and gap. There are a lot of fuel gauges to chose from, but I haven’t yet found one in a non-BGA package that offers the integrated I2C interface that the BQ27530 gives you. The BQ27530 datasheet says it’s explicitly designed for use with bq2416x devices so really I’m looking for parts that are also designed for use with bq2416x devices but with a non-BGA package. Is there a list on the website that shows which fuel gauges are designed for specific chargers and which are universal?
