The smallest isolated power solution

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28C43

Hi expert,

In our motor controler board design, the overall power input is from battery up to 55V. With a non-isolated DC/DC convertor, I think it has high risk.  But traditional isolated DC/DC solution is large, it can't fit into our motor. So my questions are

1. Is it normal with nonisolated dc/dc solution (55V to 12V@3A)to power MCU/CPU control circuits?

2. If we use isolated power solution, which TI solution is recommended to get the smallest room?

Thanks

Peter

  • Hi,

It depends on your safety requirement. If 55V is on your safety requirement, you do not need to have the isolation. MCU / CPU is ok without isolation.

You can consider something like UCC28C43, or something similar.
