TPS22953: Supply of combined power using two TPS22953

Part Number: TPS22953
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS22990

Hello team,

My customer has a question for TPS22953. Can you answer the below?

In Figure 63, the voltage of Power Supply 1 is used to turn off the EN terminal of TPS22953 on the Power Supply2 side.

Can both TPS22953 supply the combined power to System Load instead of such a MUX system? That means is it possible to turn on both TPS22953?

Best regards,

Shotaro

  • Hi Sakai-san,

Two TPS22953 devices can be used in a parallel configuration but this is not ideal since it may be difficult to divide the current equally through each device resulting in one device being stressed more than the other.

If 5A of current is not sufficient for the application, I would recommend taking a look at TPS22990 which is a similar device but rated up to 10A. It has similar CT and PG functionality.
