BQ79606A-Q1: BQ79606A-Q1

Part Number: BQ79606A-Q1

hello sir

iam trying to configure GUI with stand alone IC bq79606A-Q1.

I made whole circuit according to design recomendations provided and according to EVM. I am using 6-S battery config. i connected RX , TX , GND , and connected wake up pin to VIO . i have FT2235H setup module and iam using using FT2232H to communicate between PC and BQ. i took RX TX pins from it and connected. But when i tried to open BQ STUDIO , it says the device is not detected. but i have connected it properly as per the design , and iam getting 5V at VLDO and i pulled  the wake up pin high.i double checked all the grounds and connections as per design recomendations.

( when i checked the voltage at RX and TX of BQ its showing 4.94V ) & ( when i checked on FT2232H its showing 0V on both RX and TX )

May i  know any other ways to debug this issue ?

( Before connecting with microcontroller , i just want to check the interface of BQ79606 in GUI , so iam using this setup )

thank you

  • Hi Kavuri,

What is FT2235H? The cable required to interface with GUI should come with EVM (TTL-232R-5V) and it is required to download drivers on FDTI website before it will work with the GUI. Also for wakeup, a high-low-high transition is needed for thld_wake from datasheet, not just pulled high. You could measure wake pin to see if it gets pulled low by fdti cable. Otherwise it may be an issue with drivers/fdti cable connection as per this guide: https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/sluubq2c/sluubq2c.pdf. Did you also put in .bqz file into correct config folder?

    Regards,

    Taylor

  • yeah i have put .bqz file into correct config folder and iam able to open the GUI .

    The FT2232H is a FTDI USB 2.0 Hi-Speed (480Mb/s) to UART/FIFO IC.

may i know , can i use any generic usb to RS232 TTL converter ? or please suggest me that should i leave this setup and proceed with interfacing with microcontroller (TMS570ls).

    Thankyou

  • Hi Kavuri,

No you cannot as I mentioned in comment above, you will need TTL-232R-5V FDTI cable that ships with EVM to use the GUI. You could also order separately if needed.
