BQ35100: Calibration paramaters explains

Part Number: BQ35100
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO

Hi, Team

I have finished the bq35100's calibration and get a average gg table.

But my customer still have some questions :

"It is very unclear to me which changes to the default values you are making and why. I need more details from you to understand this.

please explain why the change is required from the default value  from the TI Data Flash Table 13-1 ."

And my answer is that:

"Some of value rounding off due to the number of significant figures .

All of the Calibration Data in the GG Table which are the responsibility of factory is auto changed by doing Calibration process with TI bqstudio software.

Pack V Offset :
For calibrate the V Offset between the value read from Gauge IC and Actually voltage.

CC Offset:

For calibrate the Coulomb Counter Offset when turn it off all except the gauge IC , Current read from gauge ic should be 0 in this condition.

Board Offset:
For calibrate the Offset affected from board

CC Gain and CC Delta:

For calibrate the Current of the battery by measuring the voltage drop across a small-value sense resistor between the SRP and SRN pins

Temperature:

For calibrate the temperature between value read from gauge ic and actually temperature.Because we use a external temperature sensor , the bit  7 of Reg Operation Config A  need set to 1, so the Operation Config A changed to 0x84.

"

But it doesn't satisfy customer's requirements.

My customer want to know:

"

For each of those values that are different than default, can you explain via circuit analysis and/or math why the value you arrived at is correct?

Also why is "Int Coeff 4" 10 times smaller than the default? Typo?
"
Could you help to answer this?

  • Hello Jay,

A lot of these parameters for calibration are unitless and used for the gauges firmware to calculate with higher accuracy. These values do not need to be hand calculated because the software will generate the values for you, the values read out are just for reference.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller
