How does a PMIC such as TPS659037 work?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS659037

I need to learn how a PMIC such as TPS659037 works. How do you set the output voltage? How does it change the output voltage (does it do it automatically? and if so, how does it do it? Can output voltages be adjusted via I2C?

I need a course on TPS659037 PMIC.

Thank you

  • Raman,

Hi, the TPS659037 is a one-time programmable (OTP) device. This means that the default output voltage and power sequence are already fixed in the device. After the device starts up, I2C can be used to adjust the voltage level of the output rails.

If you are using the AM57x processor, they have linux drivers that assist with the initial adjusting of DVS rails to operate at a more thermally efficient voltage level.

A good starting point to understand how the PMIC and processor work together can be found in this user's guide: https://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/sliu011

Please let me know if this helps you get started!

    Thanks,
