CSD13385F5T not handling more than 800mA load current

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CSD13385F5

Hello TI,

we testing CSD13385F5T for one of our design but as per the recommended Rating it's not handling load current ..?

We are using N-channel MOSFET(CSD13385F5T) as low side driver

Input drain voltage is 5V

Input Gate voltage is 5V

Minimum expected output Power is 5W (Output voltage 5V & Output current 1A )

Load testing on Electronics load  (constant  current)

What i need to do to achieve the required output power, please provide related guidelines, reference design and recommandation.

thank you in advance for sharing valuable details.

Thanks,

Rahul

  • Hi Rahul,

Thanks for your interest in TI FETs. Can you tell me more about your application and share the schematic? The CSD13385F5 is capable of conducting a load current of 1A. What is the reason you say that it cannot handle more than 800mA? Is the FET getting too hot or is the VDS voltage drop too large when it is supposed to be ON? The gate voltage is 5V but how are you driving VGS? Is there another circuit to drive the gate? Have you confirmed that you're getting 5V VGS? Also, how is 5V supplied to the drain ?

If you click on the link in my signature line, it will take you to the MOSFET Support & training page on TI.com. There you will find technical information and tools for TI FETs.

  • Hi Rahul,

Thanks again for your interest in TI FETs. Following up to see if you have resolved your issue. Can I be of further assistance? I will allow another 24 hours and if I do not hear back from you, I will assume your issue is resolved and close this thread.
