TPS65400: TPS65400 Feedback compensation response time

Part Number: TPS65400

Hello,

I am working on a design using TPS65400, I am using SW1 and SW2 in current sharing application -- generating 0.9V@6A (max) (schematic is attached), the 0.9V that we are generating from the TPS PMIC is used to power the core rail of of our Device under test.

Question: How fast will be the response from feedback compensation circuit of TPS if the load demands larger current for short duration in order to maintain minimal IR drop across the rail?

  • Hi

Once you have designed your Cout for transient requirements, you can check the performance using a Pspice simulation. The device has a transient model on the ti.com product web page.

You can download the Pspice for TI free simulator from here

  • Hi, Madan

When there is the big load demands with short duration, we usually increase Cout and adjust the compensation circuit together to meet your load transient requirement.

What is your load transient step? and duration?

What is your spec of overshoot/undershoot when load transient?

I can give you the recommendation values for Cout and compensation.
