BQ24172: Another Method for Factory Test of Battery Detection and Start of Charging (follow-up to Post #3497777)

Part Number: BQ24172

Thank you for your answer to my related question (https://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management/f/196/p/946540/3497777#3497777).

We may want to try another strategy for testing battery detect circuit, and we would like to know whether this alternative approach is safe.

We would like to connect a power supply, set at 6.5V and low current (say 200mA) through a 10 ohm resistor, across VBAT/GND, and observe the STAT pin.

Bench tests have show that this works, and there do not seem to be any unexpected current paths created.

Can you please confirm whether this alternative method is safe and reliable?

Thanks very much for you help,
