TPS2663: can tps2663 be used in series and parallel as shown below?

Part Number: TPS2663

hi,

If tps2663 can be used in series and parallel, how to trigger the overcurrent protection of the four chips when an overcurrent fault occurs?

Thank you for your answers.

  • Hi Peng,

    Welcome to E2E!

Can you please share more details on the application use case, system block diagram and the product information.

    Best Regards, Rakesh

  • Hi Rakesh,

    Thank you for your reply.

The main circuit is as shown in the figure below.

Four tps2663 are used as a switch and connected in series and parallel in the circuit.

The purpose is to ensure the reliability of the circuit so that the circuit can work normally when a single tps2663 fails.

I also want to know when an overcurrent fault occurs, how four tps2663 triggers the overcurrent protection.

    Look forward to your reply.

    Regards,gu peng.

  • Hi Peng,

In parallel configuration, the device which has lower Ron conducts slightly higher current and enters into overcurrent mode of operation early than the other device which is connected in parallel.

What kind of failures are your expecting for TPS2663? Are you designing the system to meet any particular standard ?

    Best Regards, Rakesh
