BQ27421-G1: Gauging while in the learning cycle at the target system with gauge IC configured with GoldenImage data.

While in learning cycle with the EVM board (bq27421EVM-G1A) and bqStudio software, SOC/SOH values seem not showing actual battery SOC/SOH value until Learning has been progressed, of course I know.
Then, after once write the GoldenImage data to the gauge in the target system, while the gauge indicates in learning cycle (i.e. both QMax_UP and RES_UP are cleared), how does it work?
Can the system CPU read SOC/SOH/remaining capactity or other values and regard them as almost appropriate value while in the Learning cycle?

Hello Hideki,

The bq27421 requires a learning cycle to be the best accuracy, but they can still read SOH/FCC/SOC without the learning cycle (QMAX_UP and/or RES_UP is cleared)

So even in learning cycle, system can trust SOC/SOH value based on Learned Golden Image data as reasonable although they're not accurate enough, my understanding correct?

Hello Hideki,

Prior to and during a learning cycle there is no guarantee on the accuracy of SOH and SOC. However, these registers can still be read. After the learning cycle is finished the SOC and SOH can be read and, depending on the load and profile, they will be the most accurate.
