BQ25713B: how to set the battery in disconnect mode

Part Number: BQ25713B

Hi, team

Our customer prefer disconnect the battery to SYS when in low standby mode.

From our datasheet, there is a Mosfet between  BAT(SRP pin) and SYS. but since their is a body diode inside the mosfet, so the battery still can supply current from the body diode even though we turn off the mosfet. That means we still have a leakage current in standby mode.

Do u have any suggestions for that?

Thanks.

G.W

  • Hi GW,

Due to the nature of the intrinsic body diode orientation to prevent current flowing from SYS to BAT to protect the battery from being charged when it should not, this means that the body diode will forward conduct from BAT to SYS when MOSFET is turned off. External logic will be required to further disconnect the BAT to SYS path (you can consider having a gauge/protector in the system that is able to open its discharge FET to cut off the BAT discharge path of the real battery). The leakage currents are specified under the Quiescent Current Section of the Electrical Characteristics for just the normal charger operation.
