BQ34110: Is there a minimum current pulse that the accumulator can capture?

Part Number: BQ34110

I have an application where the load is short duration high current pulses.

The peak of the pulse is circa 25ms with a tail of about 250ms. Approx 25% of the capacity drain of the pulse is in that 25ms peak.

Will the coulomb counter capture this or will I need to add some integration to the feed from the shunt?

The datasheet is somewhat sparse on details in this area.

Thanks,

  • Hello Simon,

The gauge is very good at accumulating charge for pulses, but only reports in 1mA integer values. If the pulse is very large you will need to make sure the sense resistor is the appropriate size so it doesn't exceed the ADC input range.

The gauge has a similar coulomb counter has other gauges, you can refer to this thread for more information: e2e.ti.com/.../885069

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller
