BQ24092: Minimum charge current reduction from 50mA to 10mA

I'm using the charger to charge a TLI-1530A, Tadiran lithium battery. The issue is that the battery needs to be charged at a max of 10mA at -40C. Is there a way to reduce the minimum charge current of the BQ24092 to 10mA? From the datasheet the minimum is 50mA. This design is already fielded so only a pin for pin replacement or a way to adjust the BQ24092 to 10mA would work in this case.

Hi Sergio,

Would you be able to reupload the schematic? Will the device normally be operating at -40C? Will you be using the TS feature on the device with a battery NTC?

Thanks for the reply, please keep this conversation private if possible. I had uploaded the schematic portion but here it is again, maybe it isn't showing up.

TS is simply taken high to start the charging cycle. ISET is at 50mA.

Note that per the datasheet page 7 it seems to imply that IOUT can be as low as 10mA. Is this truly the case? I though the limit on the low end was 50mA.

Hi Anthony,

Can you tell me what IOUT is for the BQ24092? Is it 50mA or 10mA? The table on page 7 of the datasheet implies that it is 10mA.

This would make a huge difference and really may be all I need.

Hi Sergio,

The 10mA is the the minimum and what we specify as the minimum current seen but we do not guarantee the accuracy that can occur.
