LM2587: LM2587T–ADJ

Part Number: LM2587
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5155,

Hi!

I would like to design a multiple output flyback converter operating from 9–15V based on the LM2587T–adj device, for a Cathode Ray Tube, Power Supply board, with the following outputs:–

1) +5V at 1A;

2) -5V at 1A;

3) +250V at 59mA;

4)  6.3V at 0.6A, a.c. (no rectifier needed) insult to 2.5kV;

4) +20V at 100mA;

6) –40V at 20mA

What primary inductance is needed for the above specification, and is there an ETD or similar type of transformer core readily available in the UK that will be suitable for the proposed outputs?

  • Hi Christopher,

    The total output power is around 30W, which is too high for LM2587. I would suggest you use LM5155 boost/flyback controller. Since you are hoping to output 6 rails, it's quite difficulty to find a existing suitable transformer.

    For LM5155, there is LM5155 Flyback Controller quick start calculator on ti.com to help customer design the circuit: www.ti.com/.../LM5155
