BQ25703A: Does the BQ25703A know if the battery is conencted?

Part Number: BQ25703A

Looking through the register list in the BQ25703A datasheet, and searching several pages of BQ25703A-related posts in this forum, I can't find an answer. Is there a way to find out from the chip, either by the few flags or via I2C if the battery is connected into the circuit? I need to assume that the AC adapter will be already connected, and that the battery might or might not have been fully charged before it was disconnected. Thanks.

Hi, Jon,

You can enable ADC and read the battery voltage in register 0x2C.

Tiger,

Thanks for the very quick reply. I had seen the ADC as a possibility but was unsure if BATFET was disconnected when the measurement was done, or if it was accomplished some other way such that input power would not be seen as Vbat, even when the battery was disconnected.

Hi, Jon,

VBAT is measured at SRN pin. Please disable charging during measurement. In this way, the BATFET is off, the SRN is measured zero volt when battery is disconnected.
