My customer has some question about the BQ40z80.
1. They want to know why there is a diode and a 2kohm between the DSG and the PACK pin
2. In the schematic, they want to check the reason why we need D1 and R6. How this circuit works?
3. How much current could DSG pin provide?

Hi Ella,
D1 provides gate oxide protection for the DSG FET by limiting the maximum Vgs voltage. Refer to N-CH FET Drive in the EC table for more info.

I think Ella is referring to the bq40z80's internal diode and resistor, right?
Personally, I think the 2k resistor is a protection for the DSG-Charge-Pump if the DSG Pin is shorted to GND because of an external error.
Or what is the purpose of it?
In the EC table I could not find a max current of the DSG-Charge-Pump:
What the purpose of the internal diode is I don't know.
