TPS563201: Inquire about input capacitor.

Part Number: TPS563201

Hi TI experts,

Like the graph below, as the DC voltage increases, the actual Capacitance value changes.

SAMSUNG MLCC : 22uF/25V (datasheet)

Looking at the datasheet of the TPS563201, it is recommended to use an input capacitor of 10uF or more.

Is 10uF the actual capacitor value? (ex : when DC 10V, Cap value is 22uF*0.2<-80%>)

Or does it mean the capacitor value by specification?

Please check it..

Thanks

Downey Kim.

  • Hi Kim,

From TPS563201EVM user guide, we can get that 2*10uF 25V input cap are used, (Ignore the 0.1uF value). According to this cap's DC bias characteristics, when Vin_max=17V, the effective value is about 5uF. So we can use 5uF as actual capacitor value. So if you use 1*10uF+0.1uF input cap, the 10uF input cap's DC rate should be no lower than 25V and with higher temperature coefficient.

Input cap and input ripple are inversely proportional. Higher input cap value can get better input ripple performance.

    Thanks,
