BQ24620: About the battery corresponding to BQ24620

Dear TI Team

I have a question about BQ24620.
Our customer wants to use the Li-Ion battery instead of the LiFePO4 battery with the BQ24620 under the conditions in the example below.
Example: Li-ion 3 cell (4.2V x 3 = 12.6V) instead of LiFePO4 4 cell (3.2V x 4 = 12.8V)

Is it possible to use it as above?
(Our customers are also considering the BQ24600 for Li-ion batteries, but I think it could be used with the BQ24620 as well.)

    Hi Ottey,

      The concern with using this part is the inbuilt VLOWV threshold, which is the battery voltage transition point from precharge region to fast charge. The threshold is set quite low compared to what is required for Lithium ion battery for safe charging. I would recommend using BQ24610 or BQ24600 for Li-ion charging.
