BQ40Z60: FETs refuse to turn on under any conditions

What am I doing wrong wher I can not turn either the charge or diacharge FETs on using any of the controls available in bqStudio?

I'm able to see the register values change and am able to program the data flash and the FETs stubbornly refuse to turn on even though the register values say they are on.

I never did a learn cycle, does that matter?

I can control the Precharge FET, but not the charge or discharge

Hi Frank,

For manual control of FETs, FET_EN must be 0, try the FET_EN command.

Yes, I use the bqStudio right pane command and toggle the FET_ON to green (0) and try toggling the DSG_FET_TOGGLE, CHG_FET_TOGGLE, and PCHG_FET_TOGGLE and only the PCHG_FET_TOGGLE actually toggles the GPIO0 pin to turmn on/off the Precharge FET.

The other fets stubbornly refuse to turn on.

I figured out the problem.

I missed the note regarding connecting the AFEFUSE pin to VSS if not used.

Of course this is counter-intuitive to connect an output pin directly to ground but that does solve the problem of not being able to control the FETs
