Good day!

Our customer want to confirm the action details of bq25895, his question is below:

Does this device switch to VBUS input voltage to provide power to the load on the SYS pin?I cannot figure out if it can switch between powering from VBUS, or powering from BAT automatically.Or is my device  supposed to always be powered by battery? If so, what is the SYS pin for, the datasheet shows it only goes up to 4.5 volts?

i think I am going to look for other ICs just in case, can you tell me what kind of power management IC i should look for if i want automatic switching between power source and battery, along with charging?

    Leon,

    Yes. The device accommodates a wide range of input sources from USB, wall adapter, to car battery. The device provides automatic power path selection to supply the system (SYS) from input source (VBUS), battery (BAT), or both.

    VSYS is to support system load such as ASIC. Please refer to 8.2.6.1 Narrow VDC Architecture on the d/s.

    It is highly recommended to get familiar with the charger operations by testing the device EVM.
