TPS25221: short protection time range

Hello expert,

May we know if you can provide short protection response time 1.5us min and max for us? Customer faces a issue on USB short to GND and they need fast response for it. May we know the range for it? Thanks a lot!!

Hello Ann,

You can refer to datasheet Tios response curve . datasheet page 9-figure 17(current limit response).

To my understand the TPS25221 should be very fast to turn off the VBUS during output hot short.

The Tios relative with the peak current during output short. High short current the fast response time. Lower short current then the response time will be slower.

Hello Michael,

We capture short protection waveform and response time is around 450ns with , which is faster than 1.5us. Based on figure 17, flat line is around 1.5us which is close to table value but not close to our test waveform. I will ask waveform from customer and send to you later. Thanks a lot!
