LM3478: Please confirm the conditions of available input and output

Hi E2E Team,

my customer wants to use LM3478 IC, they asked about the conditions below;

- input voltage : 13 ~ 24V

- output voltage : 25V

- output current : typical 5A, peak 10A

also they wants to know that is it okay if the input voltage is 28V.

please check this condition, also provide some reference circuit if you can, because i cannot find it on WEBENCH® Designer. Thanks.

    Thank you for reaching out.   The LM3478 can be used to support this  but you may consider the LM5122 controller which employs a synchronous rectifier instead of a diode.  10A load current can cause excessive heat problem in the rectifier diode. A MOSFET rectifier is more efficient. 

    If the input is 28V, either the LM3478 or the LM5122 will stop switch and the input voltage will be bypassed to the output.  With the LM5122, the sync FET will be fully on, to minimize the conduction losses.
