UCD90160: UCD90160

Part Number: UCD90160
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCD90320, UCD90120, UCD90120A

Hi,

our new design want to use the UCD90160 as the PM IC to monitor the current of the power rails, but from the datasheet, the analog monitor pins VMON only for monitor the voltage, and the "Fusion Digital Power Designer software tools" also looks different for the UCD90320, could you help me to confirm " How to use the UCD90160 pin VMON to monitor the current of the power rail"?

by the way, I also check the "UCD90120" which is similar with the "UCD90160", but from the datasheet and the "Fusion Digital Power Designer software tools", looks "UCD90120" can monitor the current of the power rail, could you tell me why?

thanks,

Li

  • Hello

All UCD devices are designed to monitor voltage via the ADC. When referring current or temp monitoring, it means that UCD can convert the voltage to either current/temperature based on the gain and offset.

For UCD90160, it does not support such conversion while UCD90120A or UCD90320 support such conversion

But UCD90160 can still be used to do the current monitoring if the application take care the conversion.
