TPS709-Q1: can input float?

Part Number: TPS709-Q1

Hi,

In the datasheet there is a description of the TPS70950DBVR that the EN-input can float, so I did not connect it to GND or Vout. This is also the case with the TPS70950-Q1, but I can't find a statement in the datasheet if the input can float. The function is given and I loaded the controller with about 40mA.

What could happen if I leave the input open or will the immunity to interference change if I set the EN-Pin of the TPS70950-Q1 to Vout?

Thanks

Fred

  • Hi Fred,

The EN pin can float for this device.  As long as you do not exceed the absolute maximum ratings you can tie the EN pin to whatever voltage works for you, including Vout.  Keep in mind that Vout may not be the best option as any load transients may pull current from the EN pin and overwhelm the 300 nA current source.

    Thanks,
