BQ76940: Need help to picking ic for battery SOC and SOH monitor

Part Number: BQ76940
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ78350, BQ34Z100-G1

Dear Sir

I am using bq76940 AFE ic for 48V, 50Ah (2.4kWh). I need help picking the single ic for battery SOC and SOH monitor and interface with bq76940 and also supportable with this configuration of the battery pack.

Can you recommend the ic and schematic diagram for my reference?

Also, please recommend ic for internal resistance measurement of this Li-ion battery pack

Regards

Hemavathi

  • hi Hemvathi,
I suggest you have a look at BQ78350-R1A. It is our companion gauge for BQ76940.
You will find reference designs based on this combo BQ78350 & BQ76940 on the link I added.

  • Thank you for your valuable inputs.

Please recommend ic for internal resistance measurement for the above-mentioned Li-ion battery pack

    Regards

  • Hi Hemavathi,

The BQ78350 is the gauge family which will control the BQ76940 and gauge from it values.  It will not measure internal battery resistance.  We do not offer an impedance track gauge which controls the BQ76940.  If you wish to use a MCU to control the BQ76940 the BQ34z100-G1 gauge uses impedance track and could be used to gauge the pack from its overall voltage.  It would not know the individual cell resistances, please see its documentation for parameters measured available for output.
