Hi Experts,
My customer is evaluating a short protection circuit. Below is the waveform when the output is shorted. Vin is 16V and Vout is 5V. When detecting the short circuit condition, Vout starts to drop until 2V then Vout keeps 2V. My customer wants to confirm if this operation is expected.
2.0V/div, 10ms/div
Looking at below explanation on datasheet page 11 , the device stops switching about 800us then begins a new soft-start. The above Vout waveform shows Vout drops about 1ms so it seems the behavior what the datasheet explains. After that, the device begins a new soft-start but the output is shorted so Vout is kept 2V. I do not know where this 2V comes from.
Could you please explain it how we can explain this behavior?
