BQ76940: bq769x0 series MOSFET

Part Number: BQ76940

Hi

I found that when the MOS is used as a high-side drive, the MOS used in the balance circuit of bq76940 is an N-channel MOSFET, and when the power MOSFET is used as a low-side drive, the MOSFET device used in the balance circuit of bq76940 is a P-channel MOSFET.

If the MOSFET is used as a low-side driver, can I use N-channel MOSFETs for balance circuit?

Waiting for your reply.

Thanks

Star

  • Hi Star,

Yes, the balance FETs can be N or P channel regardless of where the protection FETs are placed.

Please note that the 0.22 uF input filter capacitors (Cc) settle faster for less voltage error during balancing.  Some reference designs have a connection error showing the VC1 capacitor connecting to VC0, that capacitor should connect to VSS as shown in the data sheet.
