BQ24616: About design to reduce power consumption

Part Number: BQ24616

Hi,

Customer is considering bq24616.
They want to keep standby power consumption as low as possible.

Customer is fully aware of the QUIESCENT CURRENTS specifications listed in the datasheet.
However, They are looking for ingenuity in peripheral parts and settings to make the battery last longer.

For example, customer is considering FB divider resistance to the MΩ order.
Is this usage allowed?
And Could you give me some advice on how to reduce standby power consumption?

Best regards,
Yusuke

  • Hi Yusuke-san,

Yes, reducing the leakage by increasing series resistance is good. You have to keep in mind the spec for Ivfb. The leakage current should not be comparable to the leakage current of the VFB pin. Increasing the resistance too much will decrease the voltage regulation accuracy as well.
