Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2372
Hi team,
My customer is estimating 90W PD TPS2372 & TPS2373 for switch application.
But they don't know whether choosing isolated TPS2373 solution or non-isolated TPS2372 solution. Could you help on this?

Hello Miranda,
At a high level:
- Isolated is safer (less susceptible to surge and ESD events), higher efficiency
- Non isolated is smaller, cheaper
Our general advance is if the end equipment is going to be touched by a human (such as an IP phone or POS), then isolation should be used to protect the user.
If the device is going to never be touched by humans other than professional technicians (lights in a factory, security cameras), then non-isolation can work. It may also depend on the end equipment and country of deployment.
Ultimately it is up to the customer to decide what they want to choose.
If this post answers your question, please indicate so by marking this thread as resolved. Thank you.
