BQ24190: Max Charge current and Max input current limit

Hi there,

Looking at the D/S for the BQ2419x is states that it can handle up to 4.5A of charging current which is great.

Then, it also states that the max input current limit is 3A and I was wondering how these two figures work together? - Can I truly get a 4.5A charging current out of this device?

Nir,

BQ24190 is a 4.5-A charger. It can handle up to 4.5A total current, i.e. the sum of the charging current and the system current. If there's no system load, the maximum charge current can be 4.5A. Please note that the max input current limit is 3A, the charge current and the system current may also be limited by the input power.
