BQ24296: BATOVP, and dead battery

Part Number: BQ24296

Hi team,

My customer is considering to use the bq24296.

1. If the battery regulation voltage is set to 4.0V w/o battery, and then, if a 4.2V charged battery is connected to the charge IC, I think that the charge IC detect battery OVP. In that case, the d/s mentions that the charger device immediately disables charge. Does this mean that the switching operation stops and power supply to the SYS also stopped? Or only disable the batfet?

2. Is there a way to keep suppling a power to SYS even if a battery higher than the regulation voltage is connected?

3.  When a dead battery is connected, I think that charger IC tries trickle charge until four hours timer expired. Is my understanding correct?

Regards,

Yamaguchi
