BQ76920: 5 cell lifepo4 choice

Part Number: BQ76920
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ76925

Trying to choose between bq76920 and bq76925  for 5 cell design.

Can't see obvious difference for these parts when used for only 5 cells.  I assume there is some difference that I am missing or what would be the need for the bq76920 part?

  • hi FJ,
You can compare both devices on ti.com (here).
Here are a few additional points:

    • BQ76925 is a pure analog monitor (aka no ADC integrated), BQ76920 is a digital monitor
    • BQ76920 integrates more HW protection features (OV, UV, SCD)
    • BQ76920 integrates a low-side FET driver
    • BQ76920 LDO is programmable & supports a higher load
    • BQ76290 is available only with a TSSOP package
