26v-42v input,5v 6A output recommendation

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM25145, LM76005, LM76003

Hi,

My customer need a DCDC recommendation of 26v-42V input ,5V 2.6A output , but they need  two of  this in their product .so they want to know if could use one device to support this two channels requirement as below, please kindly recommend a device and suggest if could be used as below, thanks.

  • Hi Yue,

One option is the LM25145 buck controller rated for 42V max Vin. However, you probably want to use a converter for a smaller / easier-to-design solution, e.g. LM(Q)61460 is a 36V/6A sync buck converter with Vin abs max of 42V. If more input voltage headroom is required, also consider the LM76005 60V/5A converter.

    Regards,

    Tim

  • Tim,

Thanks. Yes, Customer would like to use converter. do you have a 60V 6A converter recommendation. 5A is kind close to their normal output.  also, do you think one chip solution is better or two chip solution(5V3.5A for each, like LM76003) is safer?  from cost-effective, simple and safty perspective, how would you recommend?

  • Hi Yue,

There's no 60V/6A converter, but the 5A converter should be fine if the outputs are each are 2.6A (assuming the loads can be supplied together). If the ambient temperature is particularly high, then two LM76003 would also work.
