BQ34Z100-G1: Four-LED mode SOC constant SOC indication while charging

I want to configure the bq34z100-g1 to constantly indicate the SOC on the external Four-LEDs while charging.

Does the bq34z100-g1 constantly update the SOC value to the LEDs while 2.5V from REGIN is applied to VEN?

Or does the connection to VEN and REG25 need to be reset before the LEDs could indicate a change?

Is there any limitation to connecting REG25 to VEN while charging?

Hello Nick,

The TRM explains the operation of the LEDs with the different configurations in the TRM: 3.9 LED Display

You can adjust how often it updates when the LEF_ON is set with the LED Hold Time.

Hi Wyatt,

Ok great, so in FW we can set LED_ON to cause the LED display to always be on.

While this bit is set does that gas gauge automatically update the LEDs or must the bit be toggled to initiate a refresh for SOC display in the LEDs?

Hello Nick,

Yes, it will update according to the LED Hold Time when the LED_ON is set.
