I'm looking for a replacement for the competitor's PFC controller

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28051

Hi,

I'm Kevin Kim, a FAE supporting Korean customers.

I was asked by one customer to recommend a pin-compatible TI device to replace the competitor PFC controller (FAN6961SY, Onsemi).

I checked TI PFC controllers but I could not find the right one because I didn't have much experience.

Can you please help me to find a replacement?

Regards,

Kevin.

  • Hi Kevin,

UCC28051 is a part that has almost the same function(CRM single phase PFC with aux-winding) and its pin defination is almost the same as On's part.

customer do not just do a pin to pin replacement, it means bom to bom is impossible.

if customer can try UCC28051 on a On's board, I would suggest customer pay attention especil to pin3 and pin 4.

pin 3 has different function of this two parts and by using UCC28051, customer needs to change the external circuit on pin 3.

Pin 4 is the CS pin for OCP, I would suggest customer to check the ocp threshold to see whether needs to change the current sense resistor.

  • Hi David,

    Thanks for your quick reply.

I will discuss it with the customer.

    Regards,

    Kevin.
