Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25708,
Hello,
We are considering BQ25792 instead of [BQ25708 (no OTG required) plus a power source selector], as BQ25792 includes a double power source (AC1 and AC2) selector, and incorporates all power mosfets and control loops.
A big saving on PCB space, components and design time. We will be using 4S Li-Ion or LiFe batteries, so a host is compulsory for proper charge profile programming.
We will be charging the battery and running the system either from 12V/150W solar panels, either from a 12V/240W SMPS.
The datasheet states a maximum 5A ICHG to the battery, a maximum 5A IBUS ADC range. It also states a maximum8A IBAT ADC range, and finally IINDPM range of 3.3A max.
By looking at the EVM schematics annotations, ICHG max = 5A, ISYS max = 5A but IBUS max is also 5A. Indeed, we need 5A for fast charging the 20Ah 4S LiFe battery and 60W for powering the system with VSYSMIN = 12V.
Can BQ25792 handle a total input current of 10A? I.E., what is the maximum IBUS value? 5A or 10A?
Thank you.
Regards.
Matt
